Here are some additional photos related to this work:

This is one of those painting that I did not first draw out.  I was sitting on my couch, watching a movie, thinking about my life and enjoying a glass of wine when this image came into my mind.  It was super clear and very vivid.  I looked at the clock and it was 10:12PM.  I though great, I am going to be a wreck tomorrow.  It is now 11:47PM right now as I type this.  Please keep in mind that art is not my day job.  Anyhow, my point was that sometimes you map a work out on paper and other times it is burned into the forefront of your mind and there is no need to plan it.  This was one of those rare times.

I got the black lunge pop.  You will see more of my hands to come.  This was a very hands on painting.  I wanted the coal to be an integral part of this work.  This is one of those paintings where I can not tell if it is my best or my worst work.  It is one of those painting where I think "If you took expressionism and you distilled it to it's very purest and most volatile level; this is what you get.".

Here I am.

Ok, lets see, what can I tell you to give you an idea what is going one here.  The arms are folded in; that is important.  I shows that "I" who is the figure is internalizing something important (you can tell that it is important by the look on the figures face).  The background is cruel and unforgiving which is a metaphor for life.  Yet the figure marches forward, head down with determination.  Shortly you will see a burgundy colored line running down the left of the painting; that is the crutch that is helping me wage through this life and helping me forget about those melting ice caps.

Took a chance, do you see the red line and the white on the face?

I don't have much to say about this one but I like it.

I like this photo.  The white of the face was all painted with my fingers and apparently I picked up paint from other parts as well.  I am very instinctual when I paint and usually get a bit dirty.

Ok, this is the last in the series.  A close up on the face.  Thank you father for passing on the need to express myself to me.
